Synthetic Filaments

Origin: Predominantly from China and the Far East although European production is sometimes used for more specialised applications. Lead times, from order to shipment time are typically anywhere between 2-6 weeks.

Description: Synthetic mono-filaments are used alone or mixed with other raw materials for various applications. They come in a large variety of sizes and colours, and are available level, crimped, flagable, flagged, round or cross-sectioned. Production is from oil-based synthetics, which are extruded and dyed before finally being cut to length.

Range

Nylon: Most commonly supplied as 'Nylon 6', a very fine filament with good mechanical performance, resisting wear and resilient to temperatures of up to 120 degrees Celsius. Most typically used in the production of technical brushes. Minimum order size 1,000kg.

PPN: One of the lightest synthetic filaments, with a low absorbency and good chemical stability, it can withstand temperatures of up to 120 degrees Celsius but not for extended periods. Loading at ± 12,000kg per 20 foot container but also available as LCL shipments. Minimum order size is 1,000kg.

PVC: The single most popular synthetic filament in terms of volume for the brush industry. Used for both domestic and industrial brushes and brooms along with various other applications. It is also the most cost-effective synthetic filament on a price per kg basis. Loading at ± 19,000kg per 20 foot container but also available as LCL shipments. Minimum order size is 1,000kg.

PET: Good physical performance within a wide range of temperatures, resisting tiredness and friction. Loading at ± 14,000kg per 20 foot container but also available as LCL shipments. Minimum order size is 1,000kg.
